Field Notes: Hunter’s Fortune #3, The Meltcast and Writing Advice

1) Out Today: HUNTER’S FORTUNE #3

Publisher: BOOM! Studios
Diamond Code: OCT090783
Preview: First 5 pages

Their search for Excalibur leads Hunter and company to Italy and…the Sword In The Stone. Which isn’t Excalibur. Wait…what? The mystery deepens, the clues grow stranger…there’s also punching, kicking and things blowing up!

2) The Meltcast!

I haven’t mentioned it here yet, because I wanted to wait until the iTunes problems were worked out, but I now co-host a weekly comics podcast with Chris Rosa and Aaron Brewer, recorded at the world-famous Meltdown Comics on Sunset in LA. I don’t talk comics much on this blog anymore because I generally say my piece each week on the Meltcast. We’ll be recording a new one later today with comics scribe Rob Levin as a special guest.

New episodes go up every Thursday. You can listen to them at http://coolsvillecomics.com (Why the seemingly unrelated URL? Good question.) or download them off iTunes for free.

3) Writing Advice

For the month of February, all BOOM! Studios editorial pages contain a collection of comics writing advice from the likes of such comics luminaries as Mark Waid, J.M. DeMatteis and, well…me. Along with many others. So if you’re interested in writing, writing comics or just like behind-the-scenes goodies, be sure to pick one up.

Of course, I’m sure you’re already buying BOOM! titles each month anyway, right? Especially any with the initials H.F. (Because of a slight delay, today’s #3 issue is technically the January issue, so look for the writing advice to appear in the back of HUNTER’S FORTUNE #4)
